Master and Servant: First Illustration

This one took a lot of time and I learned more than a lot thanks to some true quality feedback from a very good friend of mine. The two sketches were some photocopy attempts in achieving believable metal surfaces. Take a look at the last post to see sketches of possible objects for this scene.

Digital Illustrations and Sketches

The Bridgman studies made me better grasp raw body forms and use this for some illustrations with exaggerated proportions. The first one is the"Tomato Assassin" and the second some kind of jester. The jester was actually done before the assassin.
Now I'm working on some weird master and servant illustration. The sketches on the third pic are actually digital sketches of reference pictures I collected. I picked useful elements and copied them to fill my head with ideas from the real world.

Another Bunch of Life Drawings

It's been some while, now I made myself photgraph some more life drawings. The lighting is due to shooting the pics in the evening under rather bad conditions.

Bridgman and Anatomy Studies

After a lot of time of copying Bridgman drawings I finally found a way to memorize anatomy bit by bit. It's still relatively wacky, but nevertheless much better than my earlier no-ref-drawings. The first pic is filled with Bridgman copies.

Acrylic, Watercolor and Charcoal Studies

Just started with some more dirty traditional mediums that are new to me (acrylic and watercolor). Acrylic was really hard but now it starts to work out better. I like watercolor because of it's quicker results. Maybe sometime I'll start with gouache but right now acrylic is the way to go for me!

Various Sketches

Some stuff from my sketchbook. The first guy is from a row of digital stuff I do right now. That's a quick sketch and one of my first illustations. More to come...

Water Dispenser

Another post! This is my first, true painterly sketch, done from reference - a photo I took while on a holiday.

Digital Color Studies

The first one is from Vyle, look me a very long time to "finish". The others are from a photograph, Rembrandt and the last one is from life. I'm working on another Rembrandt self portrait master copy right now.
I just stared using color and need to be careful not to let it get too mushy. That's why I mainly work with paint blobs to get more structure.

Figure Drawing

Done weekly from January till last week. The first and third picture are the newest ones. A lot of stuff is over-constructed, but I needed this kind of practice to better understand the forms. Now I seem to need less construction lines to get the forms right. The poses range from 5 to 10 minutes.

Thumbnail Brainstorming

I do a lot of those sketches by just starting somewhere. The outcome is always a surprise and helps getting fun ideas without getting the same results over and over again.

Full Body Value Studies

These are indeed a lot older than the ones I posted some days ago. Take a look at them, too.

Cartoon Faces and Gestures

As you'll notice I mainly draw gestures from the back. At least I seem to like them the most...
